Pittsburgh, PA and Tualatin, OR, January 1, 2006 – Holjeron, the electronic controls subsidiary of Matthews Marking Products, will demonstrate three new controllers for conveyor systems at the ProMat 2007 Show in booth #4133 at McCormick Place January 8-11. In the same booth, Matthews will demonstrate a new inkjet system for marking on paper, cardboard and other porous materials.
New ZL.S-C412-D UBT controller - now available for DeviceNet™
Conveyor merge/divert/transfer functions are normally controlled by a PLC, which requires a significant investment in programming. Holjeron’s new UBT controller, the latest in its ZoneLink® family of products, can easily be configured for either merge, divert or transfer mode through a serial port and is simply plugged into the line where needed. For higher-level supervisory control, the controller is now available in a version that interfaces directly with a DeviceNet network. Contact Holjeron
New ZL.S-LK112– Low Pressure Accumulation controller – no sensor required
Another new member of Holjeron’s Zonelink family of Microroller® controllers, the
ZL.S-LK112 LPA Module, provides sensor-less Low Pressure Accumulation (LPA) logic, reducing the need for additional programming and eliminating the expense of a photo-eye or other sensor. Connecting directly to Holjeron’s Microroller motor-driven roller, the LPA module offers many of the same advantages of the company’s ZPA module: eliminating the need for external PLC control and reducing wiring. Each LPA module is linked to adjacent ones using standard Cat 5 patch cables. The LPA module’s microprocessor-controlled closed-loop speed algorithm holds a constant speed across zones. Predictive diagnostics embedded in the LPA module will indicate when a motor-driven roller should be replaced before the roller fails. Contact Holjeron
Serial interface for ZPA conveyor line - new WinXP graphic user interface
Holjeron’s ZoneLink® .S technology allows distributed microprocessor-based controllers to communicate with each other, enabling users to configure and monitor Zero or Low Pressure Accumulation conveyor lines easily and inexpensively. .S technology also provides predictive diagnostics and remote speed control.
Previously, DeviceNet™ was required to implement .S technology. Now, with the new ZL.S-F32 ZoneLink Serial Interface Card, Holjeron has made it more affordable and convenient by permitting communication through a serial port on a PC or PLC. The serial interface card includes a Windows XP graphic user interface (GUI). Contact Holjeron
Seminar on reducing total cost of ownership
Holjeron’s Materials Handling Industry Manager, Pete Shumway, will be presenting a seminar (#132) “Reducing your total cost of ownership with motor-driven rollers” at 4pm on Monday, January 8 in Theater F.
NEW economical I-Mark™ SX16 for 2-line water-based inkjet marking
The new compact, user-friendly I-Mark SX16 inkjet marking system is priced at less than 50% of the cost of the recently announced SX 32 system and less than 25% of the cost of previously available Matthews printers.
“We achieved affordability without sacrificing reliability,” says Donna Meade, Product Manager of the SX line. The SX family of printers use Matthews proprietary Drop-on-Demand (DOD) valve inkjet technology, capable of operating in challenging industrial environments where vibration and dust can interfere with less rugged printers.“
The new SX16 also offers more memory than competing low-end carton marking systems. Character size ranges from ½ in. (1 line) to 1.5 in (2 lines) and the system can print on the top or sides of cartons.
The new printer is also easy to install and set up with the controller, printhead and ink system all integrated into one compact unit that simply needs to be plugged in. An icon -based menu and hot keys make the systems easy to operate. There is a low-ink warning indicator, and the pressurized ink canister (using Matthews X-370 water-based ink) eliminates the need for an external ink pump.
