Matthews Announces New Product For Marking Retail Egg Cartons
 Pittsburgh, PA – January 25, 2005 – Matthews International announces a new solution specifically designed for marking retail egg cartons, the S.C.I. F.I.™ 3400 system that
saves packagers time in marking, cleanup and maintenance.
The 3400 ink-jet system prints information vital to assuring quality and freshness of the cartoned eggs. To enable traceability, timing and health, the system records and prints out the packing and “sell-by” dates and any other pertinent information. The company indicates that the equipment eliminates excessive maintenance, owing to the fact that the printheads do not clog, meaning more uptime. Shorter warm-up time over older printers also insures less downtime.
Print size on the 3400 can be varied from 1/8” to 13/16”. Different color inks can be applied easily from the same printhead, allowing flexible ink changeover for special batch needs. DOD valve technology simplifies ink management with the system, which eliminates the need for mixing solvent additives or other chemicals to keep print running smoothly. Also, the 3400 is available in a wash-down rated system, IP65.
