Mini-Drop Print Sample
Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, August 8, 2002 - Matthews
International is displaying several new marking products for the first
time in its booth #N4116 during the Pack Expo Show in Chicago, November
3-7, 2002. Chief among these products is the new R4 Control Unit-a configurable,
rack-system, ink-jet controller.
Small & Large Ink-Jet Capability From A
Single Controller
Each R4 controls up to 16 Drop-on-Demand™
ink-jet printheads for printing text, graphics and bar codes. Equipped
with up to 4 CPU boards, which can be selected from the newer Matthews
S.C.I. F.I.™
3200 and DOD 5100 printheads, they can be mixed to combine large and small
character marking from the single R4 unit. It has been installed in several
packaging and wood products industry plants and elsewhere.
Cap Coding, Etc.
Also being shown is the Contact Coder Model CC100 for intermittent coding
applications. The CC100 prints logos, product codes, expiration dates,
prices and similar data on caps, boxes, bottles, cans, glass jars, plastic
bags and other packages.
In addition, Matthews is showing for the first
time EasySelect™,
which enhances its Jet-A-Mark®
ink-jet coders by allowing users to scan a product or pre-printed bar
code reference sheet on the fly, permitting remote message selection within
any production line. Main benefit of the new software is to reduce message
selection errors while minimizing product changeover time.
Matthews is also introducing its first marking
system - the I-Mark™
- designed to be integrated into a total production and packaging line.
For OEMs, the I-Mark offers multi-funcitonal control of printheads either
in a network or stand-alone environment. It provides a broad range of
connectivity between Matthews own Drop-on-Demand printheads (7, 16, &
32 Valve sizes) and many other automation devices, such as PLCs, warning
lights, conveyor and material handline equipment, scales and bar code
readers.
Visitors to the booth will be able to participate
in security marking demostrations, utilizing several covert marking methods.
They will develop an understanding for current security issues in the
packaging market, such as counterfeit cosmetics, drugs and other products.
