New Large Character Ink-Jet and Indenting Marking Systems to Be Shown by Matthews International at September IMTS Show

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, July 13, 2002, -- Two new versions of its DOD 5100 (Drop-On-Demand™) large character ink-jet printer and its Pro-Point™ 2331 indenting marking system are being shown by Matthews International at its booth
(B-6370) at the IMTS Show in Chicago at McCormick Place-North Building.

DOD 5100 Large Character, Ink-Jet Printing

Particularly useful in metal applications, including aluminized steel, as well as plastics, packaging, wood, and buildingmaterials, the new DOD 5100 controller for offers two printheads (16 or 32 valves) for coding up to five lines of quality text in character sizes from 3/16"-5". Employing Matthews' valve-jet technology, the system creates high-resolution text and graphics of up to 32 dots per inch and is especially designed for use in rugged, vibration, and dusty production line conditions. It prints combined large and small marking at speeds up to 780 feet per minute and can be controlled from a single unit.

ProPoint 2331Stylus Indent Marking System

The ProPoint 2331 is the latest and most economical version of Matthews' indenting marking systems, primarily for metal, automotive and machined parts. It is used for permanently marking batch codes, part and serial numbers, date and time codes and other variable information on a wide range of plastic and hard metal surfaces of up to 50 Rockwell C.

Other Products Displayed in the Booth Include

A configurable, rack-system controller that runs up to 16 Drop-on-Demand™ ink-jet printheads for combining both large and small character marking from a single control unit.

A new large ink capacity system,Flow-Jet, eliminating the need to constantly change ink; it can supply various pigmented and dye-based inks to multiple printheads.
