Matthews'
New DOD 5100 Printer Improves Large Character Ink-Jet Marking
Pittsburgh,
Pennsylvania, January 24, 2001 - Matthews
International has announced the introduction of the DOD 5100, a flexible
large character, ink-jet printer using Matthews' Jet-A-Mark® Valve-jet
technology to produce printed characters and graphics. The new Drop-on-Demand™
marking system offers a choice of two 16 and 32 valve print heads for
coding up to five lines of text. The head design allows greater tilt angles
in order to print a variety of character heights
from a single print head. Character sizes may vary from 3/16" to
5" (5-128 mm). The system produces high-resolution text and graphics
with a printing resolution of up to 32 dots per inch.
The DOD 5100
is rugged, reliable and suitable for applications in which vibration or
dust, are produced. With inks for both porous and non-porous substrates,
the DOD 5100 provides high-quality, reliable printing on engineered wood
products, dry wall, galvanized steel, corrugated cartons, shrink wrap,
plastic, metal pipe and other surfaces. The system prints at speeds up
to 780 fpm (240 m/min).
