Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, March 24, 2001 - Matthews International Corporation announces the release of the Jet-A-Mark® Compact Coder Model 2002A.

The Compact Coder 2002A is a complete, large character, ink-jet printing system for printing text, graphics and bar codes on a variety of packaging materials. This large character ink-jet system provides direct RS232 interface and eight unit local area network capability. Routine maintenance is made easy by remote flush button assembly or direct flush from the back of the control unit.

The economical, Compact Coder 2002A uses a unique valve design in the printhead for consistent, reliable printing in tough industrial environments. The printhead and control unit are small in size for fitting in the tightest of production lines.

Print features include: date codes, Julian calendar, real time clock functions, upcounter, alphanumeric and numeric shift codes and industrial bar codes including Interleaved 2 of 5 and Code 39. All commands are easily entered through the large hand-held keyboard.

A variety of ink formulations are available for coding on corrugated, plastics, shrink wrap, kraft paper, metals, laminates and more.
