MATTHEWS ACQUIRES ELECTRONIC CONTROLS MANUFACTURER
TO MOVE INTO TURNKEY MARKING SOLUTIONS
Pittsburgh, PA, August 30, 2004 – Matthews International has acquired Holjeron (Wilsonville, OR), an industrial controls manufacturer and supplier to Matthews’ Marketing Products Division for several years.
As a wholly-owned subsidiary of Matthews International, Holjeron will be managed by the Marking Products Division, which plans to develop new turnkey marking products, incorporating the higher level of product control, traceability and material handling made possible by Holjeron’s microprocessor-based technology. These new products will be unveiled at the IMTS (International Manufacturing Technology) Show and Pack Expo International 2004.
“With more and more customers requiring turnkey solutions, not simply better marking equipment, this acquisition gives us the ability to sell into those applications,” explains Brian Dunn, President of Matthews Marking Products Division. He points out that Holjeron’s “smart moves” technology provides precise material handling and tracking with fewer parts and less wiring, while being more energy-efficient and quiet.
Matthews and Holjeron previously collaborated on the joint development of an ink-jet controller and interface specifically designed for OEMs (Matthews I-Mark™). Holjeron supplies controls to many Fortune 500 companies with highly automated processes.
Matthews International is an industrial supplier of marking and coding products including; ink-jet and contact printing systems, indenting and etching equipment, supplies and inks.
